Stuck in BKK Day 3
It's the third day that we are stuck in bangkok. The novelty of being on an adventure is wearing off. Behind the cheerful facade, I'm actually very worried.
With road blocks, chaos on the streets, we actually have no idea what we could do. 2 airports closed and flight suspended, it's really no joke.
Grandparents have ran out of medication for their high bloody pressure. Thankfully my Mom and Dad have enough for at least 10 days. Cant meet Prof Heese today at 2pm, and I have this feeling that he's getting pissed off with me.
My Dad has no more leave, my Mom has gotta go back to work 'cause her other colleague had already left for Beijing and there's no one to handle her work at all. Jie has art lessons to cancel, and leave to take.
I sit in the hotel all day, napping, eating, swimming, going for massage at the Osim chair at The Retreat, and updating my travel diary. The travel diary is the only thing that is keeping me occupied besides coming online periodically.
Thank goodness for Jas' lappy. And the wifi.
At other times, it would be filled with listening to the adults plan how to get outta here.
Yesterday night, it was trying to get a coach to send us to Penang, then from Penang, we would take a flight back to SG. But this morning, we heard news that the southern borders are having chaos too.
Then came to plan this morning to take the train from Thailand to Malaysia (I think it's Penang too), easier in the sense that the train would have toilets, and my gran would be more comfortable as compared to taking a coach with no toilet breaks.
Then came the sms from 5th kaima that there's a chartered flight from the military airbase straight back to SG, 12 seaters, S$4500. Thank God for kaima over at Singapore, handling all the calls to the Singapore embassy, giving us all the relevant numbers to call, contacting the airlines etc, and arranging for the extension of the travel insurance.
But that 12 seater is only one plane. And there are 21 of us over here.
So the plan changed yet again.
The plan is now to take a bus to the military airbase tomorrow morning, and to take the 11.15am plane to KL, before we settle for a bus back to SG, or to take a flight back to SG.
It's stressful, really. Listening to the adults plan, make phone calls, making sure that the roads to the places are safe.
Now all I wanna do is go back to Singapore safe and sound.
Just pray for us k?
Am super touched with all the concerned smses, comments on facebook, wall posts, and msn msges. I'm okay. Will stay safe. Just watch this space, will update when there's any changes.
Thanks everyone. =)

Stuck in BKK 2
I am still stuck in BKK.. For the second day running.
All I do all day is sleep, wake up, go for breakfast, go sit the massage chair, go up to the room, erm, rot around, nap, go swimming (or rather, soak water coz I don't have my goggles.. =(( ), chat, watch the news, nap, lunch, watch the news.. and the cycle continues.
The second airport in Bangkok is now taken over too, and the streets are unsafe as reports of foreigners getting clubbed by golf clubs are making the news. Rather freaky really. So all we are allowed to do is stay in the hotel..
And the airport will only open on Saturday. Means I cant go for the bbq on Saturday!! =(((((((((
So pray for me ya.
I know you all miss me. So here's a pic of me in happier times in BKK.
Eating the 3 baht ice cream in Chatuchak. =))
I WANNA GO HOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE =((((((

Stuck in BKK
I'm currently stuck in Bangkok. =S
Protesters stormed the international airport, bomb blast, flights suspended, airport closed, state of emergency.
Ahhhhh...
And I'm supposed to be meeting Prof Heese on Friday. omg.
How sway can I get man.
But on the other hand, I shopped like crazy. Camwhored like mad. Got wrapped by an elephant's nose. Got a mani and pedi that looked a little tranny-like. Went to the red light district and saw loads of pros, and tons of bikini-clad babes dancing on the damn crowded bar top. Got offered to watch a ping pong show. And acquired a Thai accent.
=D
But I'm stuck in the hotel room today. Sigh.
I guess I shall go make use of the sauna, swimming pool, massage, and pool table for the whole of today.
Please pray for the airport to reopen. I'm starting to miss the peace in SG. =((

Today's the last day of the exams!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or rather, yesterday. But hell, it's today!!!! It's the first time that our exams ended so quickly as compared to previous years of us starting the first paper on the first day, and ending on the very last day.
But anyway, YAYYYYYY!!!
The sad thing was that the viro paper was super disgusting. =(
Anyway, enough with all the words. Everyone had enough of so many words for so many posts recently. It's time for pics!!! woooooo..
So today, we were at Exam Hall C.
Taken hurriedly just seconds before the door opened. Thus the blurred pic. Hee.
And for those standing outside of the hall, this is what one would see:
A door with a tiny window showing all the rows and rows of tables and chairs.
Peering closer, one would see
Tables with exam papers all ready for us! =S
And so, everyone settled down..
With only me taking pics just seconds before I turned off the phone. HA.
And we went through 2.5 hours of misery.... before it all ended.
I was damn happy that the disgusting paper was over. =D
While Xiang's super sad that the paper's so damn tough.
So tough that she decided to tear up her paper.
And I managed to catch her tearing the paper in action! O.O
See her shocked expression. She only meant to pose with her tearing up the paper, but it really happened. HAHA.
Her poor torn up BS411 Virology exam question paper.
I decided to ignore the sad Xiang and camwhore instead.
Last paper leh! Must camwhore ma!!!
And Jas and Charles were ever ready for my cam. =D
After that, Xiang and I decided to go for Waraku pasta!
Camwhoring while waiting for our table.. and most importantly, the yannie who mistakened Cine for Heeren!!! O.O
I like the greeny pasta with tofu!!
And I like the big tomatoes on the Menu! So pweeeeeeeeeeety!
But Xiang preferred the pasta inside the menu. =D
And finally, Yannie appeared with her 200bucks worth of clothes and shoes. =)))
This time round, we chop chop ordered our food 'cause we were starving like crazy.
My carbonara soup pasta! (plus the Yannie who loves to poke my egg yolk.)
Xiang with her carbonara fettucini and Yannie with her carbonara soup pasta
And as usual, both Xiang and Yannie were like fighting over the pepper grounder.
Tsk.
After that, we managed to come up with a new dish.
New dish: Yannie de pasta
Which is made up of.....
My half eaten bacon fats, Xiang's fettucini, Yannie's spaghetti, Tomato from the pizza, veg from the salad, Penne from the gratin. Everything were leftovers save for the red peppers added for asthetic value.
Delicious ba.
Even the waitress were like "Is there anything wrong with the pasta? No soup?"
HAHAHA..
Yannie posing with her creation.
And how can Xiang and I resist a chance to camwhore? =D
After that, we were walking around Heeren in search of our neoprint machines which have disappeared! =((( Heeren is no longer the 'in' place for the young. I think it was just our generation that hung out at Heeren, like how our parents hung out at Centrepoint or something.
And so, we came across this:
I cannot resist la. Finally, something short enough for me to rest my arms on it with ease! HAHAHAHA..
After wandering around for abit, I had to rush home to pack for my BKK trip.
And I discovered someone took my shampoo!!! =XXXXX
Here's some of the stuff that gotta be packed in. Money, medicine, concealer, glasses, camera.. Ahhh..
And my half packed luggage.
But from years of training as a guide, I managed to throw in everything within an hour. Not bad ba. Don't understand why my Mom kept asking me pack in advance.
=S
Anyway, it's 2.57am right now, and I have this feeling that my parents are gonna be waking up soon, mad that I didnt even sleep, and then start rushing like mad.
I'm so gonna concuss later. =S
And before I end this post to pretend to sleep on my bed, let me do this:
To BEANNIE JEANNIE BABIEEEEEEEE,
HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY!!!!! I LOVEEEEEE YOUUUUUUU!!! So gonna miss you in Thailand. =(((( JIAYOU K!!!!
**
To the rest of the people (Monday: Weibin's Structural; Tuesday: Jianzhong, Zhenwei and Peggy's Genetics; Thursday: Xiaodi, Anthony, Jiehui's System Bio)
JIAYOU AND GOODLUCKS!!!!!!
**
Ok, my Mom just woke up. =S
Off I fly!
"I am PRETTY, accept it."
2:30 AM
Packed packed
And so, my schedule for the next week or so is gonna be packed like sardines. Or sushi.. Or whatever la huh.
With Cell Bio on Thursday, and Viro ending at 5pm on Friday, I'm left with practically no time to pack for my trip.
So it's gonna be like this on Friday:
5pm -- FINISH EXAMS!! Go out for a long deserved shopping trip that has been deprived from me for the longest time ever.
11pm -- Reach home and pack.
And the rest of the schedule was planned by my Mom:
2am -- Wake up. (O.O Sleep? Who talked about sleeping when I'm gonna start packing at 11pm??)
3am - 3.30am -- Leave house for Ah Ma house
3.30am - 4.30am -- Reach Ah Ma house to nua for abit.
4.30am - 5am -- Travel to airport
5am -- Check in of luggages
7am -- Flight departs for BKK.
--
Congrats to me.
Grass: Get your mom to make the potent coffee for me!!!

Dream #1
I realized that if I were to start blogging about the dreams I get everynight, I can publish books like Enid Blyton -- Short Stories: Kim's Adventures... in her dreams.
But anyway, I was back at Science Park working at Reuters, (I blame this on Jie's starting to work at Science Park recently, and my futile attempt of getting the Provence choco wassant yesterday), when I had to take the shuttlebus to the MRT after work.
In this dream, the shuttle is those kinda small schoolbus kinda vans, with very few seats and sliding doors that need some violence before they can be slid shut.
Anyway, I was seated next to the door when the bus jerked to a stop, and terrorists suddenly slid the doors open, and started shooting at us with machine guns.
Yes. Machine guns.
And I, being seated next to the door got most of the shots. And in the dream, my body was vibrating with every single shot that hit my body.
But surprisingly, I didnt die?
Somehow, I was rushed to the hospital with all the bullets stuck inside me, and they could bloody hell move around in my body. So I could see the shape of a bullet travelling underneath my skin, along with my blood.
Utterly freaky.
Ok, I don't know how to end this, but I woke up after watching all the stupid bullets travelling around my legs, and the stupid dream felt so damn long to me, and I need to get back to my immuno, like now.
=(((
p/s: And I realized I suck at narrating my dreams in a blog post. I can do it better in person. HAHA.

5:35 PM
I was so stressed and depressed over the 3 papers over 4 days thing when Grass drew this:
HAHAHAHAHA..
Thanks grasso~
It's 6 more days to the end! And 6 more days and a few more hours to my BKK trip!! Ahhhhh...

11:45 PM
My Mom and My Expensive taste
Apparently my mom has this idea of me:
Me:
"What? You went to Holland V? Eeyer, should have gone and buy the Provence bread ma!"Mom:
"Don't want la. Very expensive."Me:
"Huh? How you know expensive? You buy before ar?"Mom:
"No la. Your taste very expensive one lo. So the bread must be expensive too."Me:
*speechless****
To all: The
provence Choco and Cream wassants are absolutely divine!!! It's like an omgosh, freakingly delicious. And I havent eaten it in 4 years after I left Reuters. =((

Exams..
Exams exams exams.
Horrid exams. It's the last exams of my uni life, and yet I don't have the motivation to study. It's weird, really.
Loads of pics to be blogged about, luggages to be packed for my thailand trip, the want to go shopping, go for manicures and pedicure (yes, I'm very taitai. =D), the want to sing kbox, eat sashimi...
.. and yet I cant do them right now. =((
So I shall end this post with an emo pic. *emo*
Credits to Boon for this pic! =)

Emo'ing
I'm a genius
After fretting for 4 hours, I ignored the warning, shut down the lappy, and started my phone.
And ta-da!
It's all well again!!
I'm such a genius.
WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO..

4:03 PM
Phone. Dead.
My stupid phone has been cranky for the past 1 week: Able to send sms, but not receive sms unless I turn it off and on again.
Which is utterly annoying as I don't know when there are smses coming in, and when there isnt. So I have to keep turning it off and on like a mad woman. I got so mad at it that I decided to turn it off entirely.
Calls were made to Singtel and Sony Ericsson, and the only conclusion I got was that my phone needed a software update, and I could either go down to the service center, or do it myself by online update.
Like a sane Kimberly I was, I decided to do it myself.
And guess what? It's now stuck at the "DO NOT DISCONNECT PHONE UNTIL UPDATE IS COMPLETE!" of 99%.
And it has been 99% for the past 1 hour.
Great. Just great.
Now I don't know whether to unplug it or not. If the phone would go mad if it isnt finished, or I would go mad first from waiting for the 1% to finish.
ARGH.
